Bakuriani, the oldest ski resort in the Caucasus, starts its snow-recreational history from the late 19th century, when the picturesque area near the famous Borjomi drew the attention of the Russian imperial family. Clean air of the highlands, filled with the scent of pine forests, breathtaking views of the sparkling peaks and gorges - all has pointed that Bakuriani would become the winter residence of the first class higher-ups.  And so it happened - moreover, for the construction of the narrow gauge railway bridge to link the spa and the snow resort, a recognized master of iron constructions was invited - Monsieur Gustave Eiffel. Today Bakuriani is not only the center of winter sports, but also a recognized family resort: you can skate, sled and ride a snowmobile here, exploring the area.

Bakuriani - is the most famous ski resort in Georgia, located on the northern slope of the Trialeti ridge, near the Borjomi Gorge. It is a small village at an altitude of 1700 meters, surrounded by mountains, alpine meadows and thick pine forests. There are 190 kilometers from the airport of Tbilisi to Bakuriani, and it takes about three hours to get there.

The ski season lasts from November to March. Winter is cold, but not harsh, and the snow, as a rule, is stable. The weather is sunny and windless. Therefore, one can often see skiers in swimsuits. The average snow depth is about 60 centimeters, and avalanches are very rare in Bakuriani.

Several ski slopes, certified by FIS. 1) The track for beginners, the length of the cable car - 300 m, the slope of the mountain 10-12 degrees. 2) Kokhta-1, a two-stage track (total length of the cable car to 1500 m, complex at the top and simple at the bottom. 3) Kokhta-2, two-track with a total length of 3000 m. Platforms - double chairlift (1200 m), rope tows the road (1400 m). There is also a cable car type "Tatrapoma" (1640 m), ski track which is 2500 m. There are 4 children's platter ropeways. The biggest of them is 450 meters. The ascent to the pass Tskhratskaro (13 km from Bakuriani) to the height of 2780 meters is also very popular amongst the skiers
