Day One

Arrival at the Batumi international airport. Passport control and customs. Refueling and technical inspection.

 

Transfer to the hotel on a comfortable bus and check in.

 

Lunch at one of the national restaurants in Batumi. 

 

City tour to continue your acquaintance with Batumi and one of the main attractions of Adjara - Batumi botanical garden which is spread out on 115 acres of land and contains exclusive collection of rare plants exhibits.

 

After the exciting excursion you can continue your free evening by taking a stroll along the Seaside Boulevard.

 

Supper in a restaurant near the “dancing” fountains will complete this filled with impressions first day on a Georgian ground.

Day Two

We start the second day with an early breakfast at a hotel and, then, flying at eight a.m. from Batumi to Tbilisi. 

Arrival at the Natakhtari airport. Refueling and technical inspection.

Check in at the hotel

 

We dedicated the rest of the day to getting acquainted with Tbilisi city. Professional five hour walking tour around Tbilisi, will allow you to see the entire spectrum of capital’s diversity. A mixture of cultures, traditions, religions will give you a complete picture of ethnicity, history and the inhabitants of this ancient city. We finish the tour in Georgian style - in one of the national restaurants.  

 

Evening is to be spent on the Holy Mountain – Mtatsminda, overviewing the entire city’s magnificent panorama and having a dinner in the “Funicular” restaurant.

Day Three

We begin our morning with breakfast at the hotel, after which we set off to Mtskheta – Georgia’s ancient capital. Svetistshoveli and Samtavro temples, Jvari Monastery will not leave you unimpressed, since Mtskheta’s architectural monuments and religious treasures in their significance can easily rival the holy sites of Jerusalem.

 

After that the excursion to Gori, Joseph Stalin’s hometown.

House Museum and a personal train-cart of this Soviet leader, as well as unique pieces of history, will appear before you in all its glory.

 

Lunch at the restaurant adds us strength and we continue. 

 

Cave city Uplistsikhe - the next stop of our route. Carved into the rock, cave city of the 6th century represents the most interesting period in the life of Georgia connected with the development of the Iberian state in history, when Uplistsikhe took a leading role, both as political and religious center of Kartli. Here we will be able to enjoy and taste the different wines made with the first of three methods of manufacturing of Georgian wine and chacha - homemade way.

 

Back at the hotel.

  

Free time in the evening is more than worth to be spent in sulfur bathes. And if our wish to spend an evening that way doesn’t not seem convincing enough, we will answer you with the authoritative words of the great Russian poet - Alexander Pushkin, who said - "... there is nothing better in the world than Tiflis’ sulfur baths ..." - and the classic of Russian literature can be trusted)

Day Four

We meet an early morning of the fourth day by having a breakfast at a hotel and setting off to Batumi airport at 10 a.m.

 

We fly to the “pearl” of Georgia – it’s Eastern part, the Kakheti region, that’s famous for its magnificent plantations and various grape varieties. During the trip, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Georgia will see the famous Alazani Valley, monasteries and cathedrals - Gremi, Alaverdi, Shuamta

Comfortable bus takes us to Tsinandali town, stopping on the way to visit Shumi wine factory, taste wines that are produced using the European method of wine making.

 

Tsinandali – tour around the family estate of Alexander Chavchavadze, famous Georgian poet, philanthropist and aristocrat, public and political figure.

After a stroll in a beautiful and serene park, we continue.

 

To better understand people of Georgia one must visit one of the Georgian families to experience their way of life first-hand. And visiting Kakhetian families includes getting to know methods of making homemade wine using “Marani”. That’s why we are spending the afternoon in one of kakhetian families, cooking traditional bread (lavash), sweet bread (nazuki), churchkhelas, and homemade wine. Hear traditional Georgian singing, and even try dancing some folklore dances with the performers.

 

We finish our first day in Kakheti in Signakhi - the city of Love. We will make a small tour around the city, learn the legend of its origin, visit the ethnographic museum of the great Georgian painters Lado Gudiashvili and Nico Pirosmanishvili, and witness the grandeur of city’s fortress wall.

 

Kakheti without a feast and beautiful toasts is not Kakheti after all, so we’re spending the dinner in a wonderful establishment called “World of Wine”, where we taste delicious wines, made according to the ancient method, dated Bronze Age and earlier.

Day Five

We understand that it’ll be hard to leave this hospitable region, but, hopefully, wonderful breakfast at the hotel will help you brighten up the moment of parting.

 

We start the second day at Kakheti with a visit to Bodbe Monastery and St. Nino’s tomb, after which we return to the Alazani valley and visit wine factory at Kvareli to learn about the third, manufactured, method of wine making.

Taste the wines and have a dinner at a summer terrace.

 

Next stop is the Nekresi Monastery, with its interesting origin and Christian ways.

Day Six

Early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Natakhtari airport

 

Flight to the Svaneti region

 

After arrival and accommodation at a Mestia hotel you will be offered an excursion to the Svaneti museum, founded in 1936. Museum’s ethnographical exhibits, as well as engraved and painted icons of the tenth century, manuscripts of the New Testament, dated X - XII centuries, weapons and armor, iron and copper tools, silverware, textiles and many other interesting and important exhibits. You will also visit the famous Svan towers.

 

You can distract yourself from being overwhelmed with interesting information and beautiful places by an abundant dinner at a Mestia hotel.

 

We continue towards the Chalaadi glacier, located at the foot of the Ushba mountain. Visit t he origins of the turbulent river Mestichala. Enjoy the beauty of the mountain scenery and the jangling clean air.

Day Seven

Breakfast at a Mestia hotel.

 

Tour to the Ushguli village, the highest mountain village in Europe, situated at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level. Traditional Svan towers, the architecture of the village and its historic monuments including the Queen Tamar's Tower – all of these became the basis for making Ushguli a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Dinner time to be spent outdoors in Ushguli.

 

Back to Mestia.

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will venture out to the mountains of Georgia. Tbilisi - Zhinvali - Ananuri - Stepantsminda - Friendship Arch - Stepantsminda - Kazbegi. Take a climb to Kazbegi, bypassing Zhinvali, Ananuri, the deepest mountain gorge in Europe - Gorge Mutso. Visit Stepantsminda hiking up the 4 km path of Mount Kazbegi to the Gergeti church. (But if you decide that this is too extreme for you, you can always hire a Jeep with an experienced driver and go up and down this comfortable way). Clear mountain air, the ability to see the beauty of the mountains and Kazbegi, standing at the foot of it – is this not a moment to feel one with the universe?
